SO promotes not only self-esteem and self-assurance but also meaningful integration into society.
This commitment aligns with Leschaco's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pillars promoting healthy lifestyle and contributing to our communities.
This year's Play Inclusive event in Singapore showcased six sports: Badminton, Basketball, Boccia, Floorball, Football, and Goalball. The event was organized by Special Olympics Singapore and SportCares, with the Ministry of Education (MOE) support. The primary objective of this initiative is to encourage inclusiveness within the community by fostering shared sport experiences among individuals with and without mental disabilities.
During the event held on Saturday, August 26th, at OCBC Arena brought together over 650 athletes with disabilities and Unified Partners (individuals without disabilities) who teamed up to compete. Additionally, more than 100 volunteers from various organizations and schools provided their support into the event set up.
"I definitely like to participate in this kind of events and seeing persons with disabilities trying their best to compete or even win the game with their own strength, perseverance and courage, it has been really inspiring for me. They do not let their disabilities to define who they are, but they overcome the difficulties and prove us that they are no different. Sports can serve as a powerful remedy based on which we can build friendship, understanding, and acceptance. By working together, we can break the social barriers and encourage each other to be more accepting, and to reduce the negative perceptions and discriminations towards persons with disabilities." said Lay Desmond, Assistant Shipping Supervisor at Leschaco.
